Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week Highlights
The most fashionable week in Australia has just wrapped up for another year. Sydney’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is a fashion enthusiast heaven, where more than 60 designers showcase their work in eight fast minutes. All that hard work for such a short runway show!
The focus from this event was on resort collections- while some designers kept to the more resort-friendly light and flowing style, others dared to take risks with bold styling. With so much on offer, our eyes were strictly on the jewels, which wasn’t hard with the models’ accessories just as jaw dropping as the clothes (couture)! Here’s just a snippet of our favourite runway highlights...

Toni Maticevski opened the week with a unique and bold collection. Maticevski was inspired by his favourite car the Mercedes AMG C 63 S Coupe Edition 1 and wanted to represent a ‘not-to-be-messed-with attitude’. The look was fierce, featuring top to bottom zips, a monochrome colour palette and over the top accessories.
But what really had peoples’ heads turning were the accessories, designed by Ryan Storer. From sparkly chokers to ball gags and hand cuffs, it seemed as though the accessory choice was inspired by the novel - 50 Shades of Grey. Maticevski’s show left a huge impact with fashion enthusiasts wanting more.

The breathtaking Sydney Harbour and a crisp winter morning provided the perfect backdrop for a spectacular Manning Cartell runway show. Staged under the Harbour Bridge, models strutted out with silky satin dresses, palazzo pants and sequin crops.
Accessories were minimal, in keeping with Manning Cartell’s relaxed chic style. Slicked back hair exposing statement drop earrings were the perfect accessory and didn’t distract from the stunning outfits. Layered hoop earrings were also spotted on models. We loved their choice of earrings.

Day two of Sydney’s MBFW, Bec & Bridge took to the runway with earthy tones, silky dresses and lace-up details. Similar to Manning Cartell, accessories were minimal but striking. Models were styled with dainty drop earrings and large thin hoops- proving that hoops are still a thing! There was a touch of tribal with some models donning thin golden head chains. What a week it was and what amazing talent our country has. Fashion week taught us that the perfect look isn’t just about the clothes, accessories perfectly cap off the catwalk-worthy outfit.
We love that this season it’s all about the statement piece and we are so excited to be releasing new collections over the next few months which are perfect for creating your own Fashion Week aesthetic. For your own runway look and to check out our statement earrings, please click here.
