We might all be shivering under blankets or crouching next to heaters during this remarkably chilly July, but we’re almost over the winter hump. That’s right, it’s the 15th of July which means we are just about halfway through winter. So let’s shake off the winter blues and start thinking sunny, spring time thoughts. And what better way to start, than to think of new spring fashions. While our seasons may be polar opposites from our friends in the northern hemisphere, it doesn’t mean the fashion trends are. This year we saw a lot of bold trends from across the pond, from striking yellows and military greens, to geometric patterns in stark black and whites and cute numbers in gingham prints. Here at Grahams we’ve picked out some of our favourite trends that we think we will be seeing a lot of in the upcoming spring and summer seasons.
Bright Bold Yellow
Granted, canary yellow isn’t for everyone. But before you dismiss it, the right tone of yellow can be quite forgiving and flattering. From amber tones and canary, to marigold and champagne tones, there’s bound to be the perfect shade for almost everyone. According to the ‘fashionistas’ in the know, the trick is to figure out your skin’s undertone and then find the right yellow shade to complement it.
If you’re not ready to go head to toe in yellow, why not try yellow jewellery instead. Whether it’s rich yellow gold or sparkling yellow diamonds, you can never go wrong with a bit of sunshine inspired bling.
Bold Blue and White
A lot of the international spring runway shows were sporting stark black and white monochromatic designs, but if that look is too much for your style, try adding blue into the mix to soften the look. To capture the essence of the look, wear a pop of complementary sapphire jewellery like these styles.
It wouldn’t be spring without a few cute and sporty polo shirts. Nothing says Spring like the tried and true polo shirt in any colour for just a touch of that preppy look. Pair with a sweet mini skirt, shorts or even the ever chic midi pants. To add to the sporty theme this season, add a stunning diamond tennis bracelet to take the look from day to night.
Whatever trend you embrace for the upcoming warmer months, jewellery will never go out of fashion. The right jewellery accessory here or there can really make an ensemble look complete. At Grahams Jewellers we bring you the latest styles and designs hot off the runway to keep our customers on-trend and looking fabulous.
