Many women's watches are water resistant, this refers to its ability to resist water and moisture from entering the watch’s interior and damaging its delicate mechanisms. A watch’s water resistance is usually measured in metres and indicates how deep the watch can be submerged in water without sustaining damage. It's important to note that resistant is not the same as waterproof, and all watches have a limit to their resistance. Watches designed for water activities like swimming, diving or surfing generally have a higher water resistance, whereas dress watches may have simple water resistance. Movement

Watch movement, also referred to as calibre refers to the mechanism that powers the movement and keeps the watch in time. It consists of various components, including a mainspring, escapement, balance wheel, and gears. The mainspring provides energy to the movement, while the escapement regulates the release of that energy to the balance wheel. The balance wheel oscillates back and forth at a specific rate, and this movement is transmitted through the gears to the hands, which display the time. There are many different types of movement such as quartz: which uses a battery and crystal, automatic: which is powered by the movement of the wearer, solar: which generates energy from light and more!
